Hello, my name is Alexis Wood. I am a second-year dental hygiene student at Tennessee State University.
I chose the dental field during my high school years when I realized how much I enjoyed science and working with people. My interest in dentistry was sparked by a combination of personal experiences and academic interests.
Growing up, I had a wonderful dentist who always made me feel comfortable and took the time to educate me about oral health. This positive experience left a lasting impression on me. Additionally, I was always fascinated by the intricacies of dental care and how it impacts overall health. Volunteering at local dental clinics further solidified my decision, as I witnessed the transformative impact that proper dental care can have on someone's life.
I received my bachelor's degree in public health, on May 4, this will provide me with a strong foundation in understanding the broader implications of health care and prevention strategies. Once I finish the dental hygiene program, I will receive my associate's degree.
I am passionate about helping others achieve their best smiles and maintain good oral health, and I am excited to continue my journey in this rewarding field. On a lighter note, my choice of scrubs is Cherokee, as they offer the perfect blend of comfort and professionalism that I need for long days at the clinic.
